The Department will make earnest effort to foster growth, sustainability and play a prospective role to safeguard animal genetic resources, conserve indigenous breeds, protect, strengthen and improve livestock, create employment opportunities and support the livelihood for women and other marginalized groups, increase production, productivity and value addition of livestock, and poultry products.

To address the problem, this Department is committed to implementing various policies, programmes and initiatives for income generation, employment opportunities, poverty alleviation, and state economic growth. Additionally, it has pledged to promote the establishment of disease-free zones for specific animal diseases as well as the sustainable expansion of poultry and cattle for the purpose of ensuring livelihood support, economic prosperity, and nutritional security.
